Keeping your dog cool this summer

Summer is here already! For humans, it’s a time of beach trips, BBQS, swimming and getting outdoors in that beautiful sunshine. But, don’t forget that our furry friends rely on us to help keep them safe and cool in the heat.

Here’s your ultimate guide on keeping them cool:

1. Hydration

Make sure you dog always has access to fresh, clean water.

You may also like to add some ice cubes in or even freeze some treats in water for a fun stimulating game that keeps them cool

2. Avoid walks in hot weather

Never take your dog out for a walk in the summer heat. While you may feel like you can with stand the blazin’ hot sun, don’t forget that your dog is essentially wearing a fur coat… permanently.

Most dogs don’t wear shoes either, so their paws are very sensitive to scalding hot concrete.

It’s best to walk them in the late afternoon once the sun has gone down, or early morning.

3. Never ever leave them in the car

Even if you think you are popping into the shops for a quick visit, just leave your dog at home.

Cars heat up extremely quickly and even with the window slightly propped open, it can turn into a hot box for your poor dog to have to sit in.
